In 2016, I lost someone who meant more to me than I can even begin to describe: my grandpa, Walter. His passing left a hole in me for quite some time and that grief spilled into a lot of music that I’ve written through the past 5 years. Songs about loss, death, coping, constant change, and so much more. But it was these songs that I feel helped me reflect on the impact he had on me and my family and move on from his death. 
 When I found out I was going to have a son, I had no doubt who I wanted to name him after. I wanted to give him all of the love and wisdom that was given to me by my grandfather. 
 Just as a wave comes and goes, it’s the wake that comes before and after that we see and feel, even long after its gone. As I welcome my son Walter into this world, I wanted to share a few songs that helped me bridge a very tough time in my life. I give you all, Walter’s Wake.
