Biography

For over a decade, Current Swell have earned a global following thanks to their electrifying performances and soulful songwriting. The Victoria, BC six-piece band—led by Scott Stanton and David Lang, alongside Louis Sadava, Marcus Manhas, Phil Hamelin, and Dave St. Jean—have toured the globe, captivating audiences from Brazil to Australia, and filling theatres across North America and Europe. With breakout albums Protect Your Own and When to Talk and When to Listen, Current Swell’s music has resonated strongly, combining powerful storytelling, infectious melodies, and a blend of indie rock, folk, and a touch of West Coast roots. Tracks like Young and Able and Long Time Ago have become anthems, consistently belted out by rapturous crowds. After an extended break since 2019’s Buffalo, Current Swell return with their highly anticipated EP Peacekeeper, due November 22, 2024. Produced by Gus Van Go (The Beaches, Arkells), the EP showcases the band’s growth, capturing the joy of friends who thrive on making music together. The first single, Ba Ba Song, is a whimsical tribute to life’s simple pleasures, echoing the harmonies and playful spirit of The Beach Boys. The second track, Early Riser, is a celebration of perseverance and the grind of chasing dreams. With Peacekeeper, Current Swell are reminding the world why they’ve become such a beloved force. As they prepare to hit the road this spring, they’re ready to bring down the house, one electrifying performance at a time.
