Lang Lee(이랑, 李瀧, イ・ラン) is a singer/songwriter, essayist, author and filmmaker born in 1986 in Seoul, Korea. Known for her candid and sincere approach, Lang Lee engages deeply with themes of pain, poverty, death, sorrow, and angst through her music. Lang Lee debuted in 2011 with the single album "You Don’t Even Know[잘 알지도 못하면서]", and then released the first full-length album "Yon Yonson[욘욘슨]" in 2012. Her second full-length album "Playing God[신의 놀이]" was released in 2016 and earned the ‘Best Folk Song’ award at the 2017 Korean Music Awards. In 2021, she released her third full-length album, "There is a Wolf[늑대가 나타났다]" which received widespread acclaim from both the public and critics. This album also got her the ‘Discovery of the Year’ award at the 2022 Seoul Music Awards as well as the ‘Best Folk Album’ and ‘Record of the Year’ grand prizes at the 2022 Korean Music Awards. After majoring in film directing at the Korea National University of Arts, she now also works as a music video, short film, and drama director. A versatile artist, Lang Lee has published several essays and novels in Korea, Japan, and Taiwan. In addition to her music, she utilizes a range of media—including comics, moving images, cinema, and written text—as powerful vessels for her messages, fluidly navigating across these diverse realms and showcasing her artistic versatility.
