Amir Bayat (born 25 April 1997) is an Iranian-American composer and concert pianist. Bayat was born in Zanjan, Iran and raised in a musical family. He first began studying music with his father, an opera singer, and received a classical training in piano at Rastrapovich Music School in Baku, where he had his debut performance with the Azerbaijan Symphonic Orchestra in 2004 at the age of 7. At the age of 13, Bayat immigrated to the United States where he continued his musical activities throughout his high school years. Aside from participating in the school orchestra, he performed in a Yamaha sponsored concert at USC at the age of 15. After emigrating from Iran, homesickness and the difficulties of living abroad led Amir to take-up the Persian tar as his second instrument, studying first with his father and later with Fariborz Azizi and Hossein Alizadeh. Career Active in both the traditional Persian and classical western music scenes, Amir has performed throughout the United States as a composer, pianist, and tar player in collaboration with such musicians as Imamyar Hasanov, Sara Naeini, the Echomerz Ensemble, and numerous others. He has also scored several films, including Sohrab, a Journey (2017) and Nightly Whispers (2021).
