Biography

Alf Wilhelm Lundberg is the first improvising performer of the 8-string Brahms guitar. Being originally a pianist, the Brahms guitar proved to be the perfect instrument for him with its extended range in both directions, adding one higher and one lower string. A revolutionary instrument in the hands of a gifted composer and improviser is really a perfect match, something you can hear in his debut album “Christmas Improvisations” as well as his new live album “The Beauty and the Beast”, where the acoustic beauty of the Brahms guitar meets up with a Beast of a pedalboard! For this album, he tuned the entire guitar totally different than before, and it took 3 and a 1/2 years to just learn how to play and improvise in that new tuning!
