Thomas Hass and Thomas Agergaard are two of Scandinavia's significant saxophonists who have shaped Danish jazz for decades and have been at the head of numerous tone-setting groups with their creative, colorful, and intense playing. Together they have created the ensemble DOUBLE DRUMS. They performed in a special edition with master drummer Rakalam Bob Moses at Aarhus Jazzfestival in July 2023. See pictures above. Thomas Hass is trained as a composer under Bob Brookmeyer from RMC and Thomas Agergaard is a member of the Danish Composer Association DKF. Both have received several awards and nominations for their artistic work, e.g. International Jazz Federation's 1st prize, and the Danish Arts Foundation's 3-year work grant. The two saxophonists both have roots in the great American saxophone tradition, which they draw into a new and groundbreaking approach to rhythmic improvisational music.
