Japhy Saatchi is an artist / musician (and one of the many working aliases) for Canadian born, globally nomadic music producer Robert Strauss (aka the founder of WX//CLTV (a music label and cultural platform) The JAPHY SAATCHI alias was born during so called ‘performance art’ collaborations with his one time romantic partner Vicky O’neon (a Finnish drummer & percussionist). Japhy Saatchi’s Sylvester & Prince inspired 80’s funk is defined as bold, soulful and fun with a sound all It’s own. Never one to fit into a box 'Strauss has a musical history working in various genres and dating back to his first major label signing as a Singer / Songwriter in 1993. Strauss’ work with UK retro soul group Personal Life, and in earlier dance and electronic music genres (appearing as Robert Strauss) has found him with releases on Freerange, BBE, Defected, Soul Jazz, Tokyo Dawn, Expansion and now Mexico City's Matanga records as his music finds next generations of fans and continues to be championed by the many of worlds top DJs & tastemakers alike.
