North West London artist Abby Power has been making waves in the music scene since 2010. Initially inspired by Def Jam poetry slams, she transitioned from poetry to songwriting, drawing influence from icons like Ms. Lauryn Hill, Kanye West, and Mos Def. After a five-year hiatus, Abby made a powerful comeback in 2020 with her EP Home Is Where the Start Is, followed by her critically acclaimed Class of '94 EP, both topping Amazon UK's Rap & Hip Hop charts. Her music has gained significant traction, with over 60,000 Spotify streams, 200,000 Apple Music streams and airplay on more than 25 radio shows, including multiple features on BBC Introducing London and BBC Radio London. In 2022, she released Influenced featuring collaborations with SamXVI, grysn.oir, Zara W, and Swish Lynch, which also hit #1 on Amazon UK's Rap & Hip Hop New Releases chart. Abby's venture into R&B with Protostar—produced by hennessey_tk—debuted at #1 on the Amazon UK Best Selling R&B chart, showcasing her versatility as an artist. Abby has since dropped a handful of singles and taken a slower approach to releases, including a song dedicated to the #FreePalestine movement, released only on non-profit streaming platforms.
