Spanish violone and double bass player Ismael Campanero is quickly gaining a reputation as a soloist and chamber musician. He has appeared with major European early music ensembles, including Il Pomo d'Oro, Jupiter, Arcangelo, Balthasar Neumann, The English Concert and OBNI, among others, performing in some of the top venues of Europe and America. He has always been attracted to jazz, improvisation and music from different cultures, reflecting this in his musical personality and participating in very different types of projects. In 2023 he releases his first album as a soloist, THE NEW VIOLONE, alongside organist Daniel Oyarzabal. In this project Ismael gives his own voice to this forgotten instrument through some of the most wonderful composers of the baroque.
