Johnny Helm, a Hawaii based Acoustic Folk Rock artist, was born on March 4, 1973, in Hartford Connecticut. He attended Hall High School in West Hartford Connecticut. Johnny began his singer songwriter journey while attending High School. In 1991 he enrolled at the University of Rhode Island (URI) where he played in a Grateful Dead cover band called Cat On A Tin Roof. In 1996 after graduating from URI Helm moved to the Island of Oahu. Shortly after moving to Oahu he began his career in radio. Johnny worked as a production director and On Air Personality for many of Hawaii’s top stations. Since 2006 Johnny has performed 7 nights a week at his various residencies in Waikiki. He has released 6 records four of which are available on all streaming platforms. Johnny began tracking his EP Banyan Tree at his home studio in 2011 and released it in October of 2012. It was Nominated for the "EP" of the year at Hawaii's Na Hoku Hano Hano awards. For You was released in 2017 & his latest release Lainey and the 93 in 2019. Orange Pear Productions & Studio is Johnny’s current workspace. He has produced & recorded independent artists from all over the world including Channel Davis from New Zealand, Patrick Kell from El Paso, Texas, Tavana, Jenny Yim, & Aiden Laprete from Hawaii & many others. Johnny is currently writing for a new record, producing independent artists & scoring music for film. The latest project he scored for NMG Network and Hawaiian Airlines won a regional Emmy.
