Brooklyn, NY. Adam Charles Lempel (born July 14, 1986) is an American musician, photographer, artist and designer. Lempel was raised orthodox Jewish in Queens, NYC and Woodmere, Long Island. While studying philosophy in Baltimore, he discovered the underground music scene centered around the Copycat warehouse and Maryland Institute College of Art. Lempel started a band, Weekends, with Brendan Sullivan in which the vocalizations were improvised with no set lyrics. Weekends was a ubiquitous part of the Baltimore DIY indie music scene playing warehouses, basements, and the Whartscape and Artscape festivals. In 2013, after a collapsed lung, Lempel began releasing music under his own name and with Adam Lempel and the Heartbeats. In 2014, Lempel moved to Amsterdam to study classical music composition at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam. He collaborated with choreographers at the SNDO program at the Amsterdam University of the Arts and completed a masters degree in music design at HKU. Lempel now lives in Brooklyn, New York, where where he has his own band and produces music with the LA based singer-songwriter Erika Levy. I also make music with Weekends and Adam Lempel and the Heartbeats
