Biography

Hailing from Ohio, singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Daniel Ryan has immersed himself in the soul-stirring genres of folk, blues, and country. Ryan's musical journey began with a profound admiration for the legendary Bob Dylan, whose influence led him to explore the rich tapestry of early folk artists such as Woody Guthrie, Leadbelly, Mississippi John Hurt, and The Carter Family. At the core of his musical identity, the acoustic guitar serves as Ryan's primary instrument, skillfully complemented by banjo, ukulele and harmonica. His soulful voice blends seamlessly with his instrumentals, creating a captivating and nostalgic experience for his audience. Ryan's musical journey began at the age of 15 when he first picked up the guitar, and by 22, he was already performing professionally. He released his debut album of original compositions at 24, a testament to his talent and dedication. True to his folk singer heart, Ryan holds a deep appreciation for preserving traditional styles and ancient melodies. While still crafting his own original compositions, he feels a profound connection to the old songs, cherishing the music of his ancestors. His reverence for the folk, blues, and early country songs echoes the spirit of Harry Smith's Anthology of American Folk Music. Through his timeless melodies and authentic spirit, Daniel Ryan embodies the essence of folk and Americana, touching the hearts of all who listen.
