Geteye is a beatmaker who has been active since the early 2000s. From a young age, he embarked on this adventure alongside his partner Oteest, forming the duo Strangenature. Their musical journey began on Groove eJay, where, despite a limited budget, they extensively utilized the software, even transforming its use into a true sampler. Subsequently, Geteye migrated to Ableton, a tool he still uses today. Geteye’s influences are diverse and reflect his love for melodic sampling. Among his main inspirations are iconic figures such as Madlib, J Dilla, Kankick, Hi-Tek, Mo Kolours, Afta1, KNLO, and Iman Omari. In France, artists like Onra, Astronote, and Barrio have also impacted Geteye’s creations. His music is characterized by a unique grain treatment and realistic drum work, creating a distinctive and captivating sonic universe. Geteye’s career began to gain momentum during the ‘golden age’ of Myspace, where he was particularly active, forging virtual and real connections with other enthusiasts. This period was marked by notable collaborations, such as his appearance on Soulection’s first beat tape and his involvement in La Fine Equipe’s La boulangerie project. Concurrently, on the Bandcamp platform, Geteye released various beat tapes and remixed and revisited album projects. Geteye is currently pursuing another passion, aviation, but this doesn’t stop him from proposing new projects; his new album, Kid, will be released in may 2024.
