Biography

Jacques C (full name Jacques P-E Carlsson) is a Swedish solo artist that started making electronic rock music in 2005. He earlier played in the obscure punk and shoegaze bands Hellsearchers and The Veins. He chose a French artist name since he was deeply inspired by the French Touch scene with bands like Daft Punk, Motorbass and Air. His music is still somewhat more British Post-punk sounding, with sometimes gloomy atmospheres. He has previously released six albums on his own label Funk Noir, and 3 albums (Noir, Noir Pt2 and the new album Where We Belong) are released by French label Le Maquis. Jacques’ dark and sometimes danceable electro pop tunes have made it into several European radio stations. And he has made live interviews for Swedish National Radio show P3Lab and German Radio Fritz who played Jacques C songs on high rotation. He has performed in Athens (Greece), Ukraine, Paris & Lille (France) as well as in Stockholm & Gothenburg (Sweden). Critics have been very positive and said things like “the Bjorn Borg of the dance floor”, “it sounds like Daft Punk and New Order (in their heyday) met in the studio” to simply “this is everything I love”. Remains to see what the critics say of the new, more low-key and sombre album Where We Belong. An album that stirs Jacques C himself and of which he is very proud. The first original album to be printed in vinyl. (A compilation album Death & The Girl was printed on double album by Erik Axel Sund, (Swedish crime novel authors).
