Biography

Somewhere between a solo bedroom-pop act and an indie rock quartet, Super Cassette has specialized in producing driving, insidiously catchy power pop since 2016. Starting as a solo recording project called “Maximillian”, Super Cassette quickly blossomed into a proper rock band. Max Gerlock (they/them) put a band together to play live, and the incredible chemistry they discovered (along with the cease-and-desist letter that forced them to change their name) made it apparent that Super Cassette would function better as a band than as a solo project. On the heels of their viral queer-joy anthem “Be Gay, Do Drugs, Hail Satan” and the release of their first full-length album “Continue?”, Super Cassette has been tirelessly touring the US with one eye focused on introspective power pop and the other on world domination. Max remains the creative heart of the band. Having spent two years in their home studio writing and recording the material for their existential debut, they’re now back in the studio, crafting songs for their next release while the band plans the routes for their next tour.
