Switch is a Canadian hip hop artist often commended for his original flow, vocal style, lyricism, and honesty. Switch began creating and recording his own tracks at the age of 11. Over the years, his music has grown a philosophical undertone that encourages listeners to think critically. Switch’s unique life experiences creates a sound that can’t be placed into a category. His musical range catches the attention of audiences and reels them into a catalogue of music that covers a wide variety of moods and topics. Switch was born into a complicated situation; at the time of his birth, his older sister was expected to succumb to Langerhans cell Histiocytosis, a rare disease she had been suffering from since she was 6 months old. Against the odds, Switch's sister, Marika, survived; however, residual affects of the disease left her with brain damage. Switch talks about his sister and the unique experience of growing up with a brain injured sibling in his music; listeners will notice that neuro-diversity is a re-occurring theme. Switch views music as a healthy coping mechanism and instrumental to a balanced state of mind. As a recovering addict, Switch attributes his to self-awareness and support to the people in his life. Switch has publicly discussed that he still uses THC, but says he no longer consumes any other drugs. Over time, Switch has developed a cult fan base, eager to praise him and refer to him as "underrated" and "unique."
