Biography

LIZ CHIDESTER is a singer/songwriter originally from rural VA. Liz released her debut record 'People Pumping Pedals' (2014 CAU Dog Records) and EP 'Otter Hill' (2015). She was the Mid-west Finalist in NPR's Newsong Songwriting Competition 2014, Chicago Music Awards Best Female Vocalist 2015, and a New-Song Songwriter Competition Finalist in 2016. In 2017, Liz formed indie-folk roots band LIZ AND THE LOVELIES with Alex Chidester (vocals, mandolin), Mike Fletcher (bass), Zach Finch (drums), Lewis Rawlinson (vocals, cello), Kevin Schwarzwald (violin), and Lauren Vogel (violin, vocals). Their debut EP 'Progress into Simplicity' (2017) won Best Roots EP - 2018 IMA NYC, and placed 4th in Brooklyn's Silver Sound Showdown 2018. Their single “My Way/Your Way” was a finalist in the Folk/Americana category in the Great American Song Competition 2018. During the pandemic, LIZ AND THE LOVELIES lovingly disbanded, and Liz formed her new project LIZ LUTHIER from the ashes with cellist/vocalist Lewis Rawlinson. She released the single “The Great American Chestnut Tree” in fall 2020 after it was featured on NPR’s All Songs Considered. Liz Luthier’s anticipated EP 'otherside of the darkest timeline' will be released Spring 2021 on Murmuration Records. Liz lives in Chicago, IL as a teaching artist at Old Town School of Folk Music. She is a critically acclaimed actor and singer. www.lizluthier.com www.murmurationrecords.com
