Biography

Trained as a sound engineer Asher`s first studio was built with help from Pete Townshend of the Who, who lent him recording equipment. Townshend also produced his first single Peppermint Lump.Asher then played drums on his album Empty Glass. Asher has recorded over 30 albums of music ranging from earthy tribal drums to exquiste and melodic chilled albums. His previous library material has been sampled by the Chemical Brothers, Unkle and in 2021 by Tyler the Creator, who based the track Corso from Call me if you get Lost album on Asher`s Oriental Workload. Bestseller Feet in the Soil was followed by Tigers of the Raj, a celebration of India in cross-cultural form. Collaborating with Indian master drummer Sivamani in Drums on Fire and Arthur Hull - pioneer and grandfather of the American drumcircle have given his work breadth and scope. Another medium whose arrival expanded Asher`s interaction is in the realms of Nia and the Conscious Dance Movement notably with Texan choreographer and Nia teacher Adelle Brownlee Brewer. Also composing for personal growth colour system Aura-Soma expanded the parameters and he is now also composing for solo piano. Journeying, character and depth combined with a love of variety characterise his work, accompanied by his signature crystal clear production style.
