Pavithra Chari is a composer/vocalist and one half of the acclaimed contemporary - classical duo Shadow and Light India with Anindo Bose. She is a student of Hindustani classical music, currently a disciple of Smt. Shubha Mudgal. She is a recipient of a number of arts based scholarships and fellowships - Ethno (2015), Shastra (2016), SAMUR (2017), Onebeat (2018) and the Seashells Residency (2019). As a recording artist she has collaborated with Karsh Kale, Stanley Jordan, Advaita, Warren Mendonsa, Benny Dayal, Mohit Chauhan. She has sung playback for the Himachali film Saanjh and Malayalam film Pretham Undu Sookshikukka. Her debut in the Tamil film industry was with national award winning music composer D.Imman, for the film Udanpirappe (October 2021).
