Biography

Claudio Ribeiro (São Paulo, 1976), based in the Netherlands since 2000, is a sought-after harpsichordist and conductor in a variety of orchestras and ensembles and a regular guest at the major concert venues and festivals in Europe, recording for labels as Ramée, Ricercar, Ambronay Éditions, ORF, Brilliant and Passacaille. Next to his activities as a duo with recorder player Inês d’Avena, Claudio is the co-founder and artistic director of baroque ensemble New Collegium and member of La Cicala and Radio Antiqua.He has won prizes as both soloist and chamber musician at the Rotary Prize for Young Instrumentalists (1999, soloist), Premio Bonporti (2011, duo AvenaRibeiro) and International Van Wassenaer Competition (2016, New Collegium & Radio Antiqua). Claudio holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague, having studied with Jacques Ogg, as well as a bachelor’s degree in Conducting from the State University of Campinas, where he studied harpsichord with Edmundo Hora and conducting with Eduardo Navega and Henrique Gregory. Claudio teaches at the Royal Conservatoire The Hague and at the Kunstuniversität Graz, and receives regular invitations to teach in festivals in Brazil and Europe.
