Petra Petra is a project by producer and sound engineer Emanuele Flandoli (aka Manu Phl) in collaboration with musician and ethnomusicologist Samuel Mele, mixing traditional sounds and melodies from the whole Mediterranean area with a contemporary club & dub attitude The duo explores the interconnections between the music of the Mediterranean and the cultural ties that connect its shores, going beyond today's political, ethnic and religious borders. A vocation for hybridization which is reflected in the fusion between deep and contemporary electronic productions (rich in dub, deep, EDM, dubstep influences) and the use of traditional instruments (oud, mandolin, saz, castanets, qraqeb, frame drums) , enriched by samples of archive recordings and featuring artists from the Mediterranean world scene. A declaration of intent according to which the music of the people is not still, static, "museum-like", but rather a creature in constant evolution and hybridization: it is today's experimentation that generates tomorrow's tradition.
