Originally hailing from Astoria, Queens, NY and The Bronx, NY, Joswun grew a love of music very early due to his exposure to musicians within his immediate family and the bubbling Hip-Hop scene exploding all over New York City in its early stages. Grandson to Pee Wee Tinney of the 1950's rhythm & blues collective called The Jive Bombers; music was naturally in the family sphere with talents passed down from one generation to the next. Instead of following in his father and grandfathers footsteps, he showed more interest in the Hip-Hop DJ scene opposed to learning to play an instrument, the turntable became his first love. That proved to be an expensive hobby that wasn't realistic at the time so he immediately turned his efforts into writing lyrics which turned out being an effortless transition. He developed his skill with the aid and competitive pressure of the older rappers in his Astoria neighborhood. Circumstances sent him to live with his father in The Bronx where his writing and flare for competitive showmanship were both sharpened while participating in heated rap battles on the campus of Adlai E. Stevenson High School and various house parties at the height of the crack era in NYC. His creative motivation has always been to make mood music, "when my song is heard, I want it to put you somewhere, not just make you bop your head or dance". Joswun has never abandoned his love for creativity and continues to write and produce under the umbrella of NiteOwl Visions.
