Biography

Julie Campiche is a harp jazz pioneer. Just as Vincent Peirani innovates with his accordion, Julie is one of those harpists around the world, such as Brandee Younger, who have taken over from Alice Coltrane and Dorothy Ashby and put the instrument firmly on the modern map. Her quartet has put Swiss avant-garde jazz on the international map. Julie, Leo Fumagalli (Bada-Bada), Manu Hagmann and Clemens Kuratle have been on the road throughout Europe for five years and have shared the stage with artists such as Erik Truffaz and Mammal Hands. The press describes it as " One of the most exciting jazz bands in Switzerland. " and hails their innovation " This is the music of the future performed here and now. ". This band plays an atmospheric, forward-thinking Jazz and walks in step with those who mix synthetic music and natural sound, such as Norway’s Nils Petter Molvær, England’s Portico Quartet, Gogo Penguin, Vega Trails and Yazz Ahmed, as well as the Island’s ADHD , the Canadian group Godspeed You! Black Emperor , or Poland’s Hania Rani. Julie Campiche Quartet's progressive spiritual jazz is also reminiscent of the roots of The Doors and Pink Floyd . She is a highly respected musician who has worked with an impressive array of groups and artists, including duos with Sven Helbig, Théo Ceccaldi and Jasper Hoiby (Phronesis). She continues her ensemble work as well as solo performance on a regular basis in European clubs and festivals.
