Born in Sabadell (Catalonia, Spain) Ester Pineda first came to international notice when she was chosen to represent her country at the UNESCO in Paris on the occasion of the 15th General Conference. Since then, Ester has given recitals in major venues in Europe (Wigmore Hall, Théâtre du Châtelet, Festival Chopin, Invalides, Palais Nostitz, Fundaciónn March, Festival International de Torroella de Montgri etc.) and Latin America. Even if the repertoire of the late nineteenth and the beginning of the twentieth century occupies a major place in her career, she has kept her attachment to the Spanish repertoire that she defends with special dedication. Her first four releases for Mandala (Harmonia Mundi) pay tribute to this fidelity and all of them have received critical acclaim. Since 2011, she has been recording with Swiss record label Vde-Gallo. Her commitment to pedagogy (she teaches at the Jean-Philippe Rameau Conservatoire in Paris) led her to research in the field of systematic musicology. At the crossroads of cognitive neuropsychology and musicology, she focuses on the exploration of cognitive processes in musicians’ inner hearing. She recently published the book Le corps musicien : vers une pédagogie sensorielle de l'interprétation pianistique (Ed. Delatour; “The Musician’s body: towards a sensorial pedagogy of piano performance”, English version not available).
