Egyptian musician Karim Nagi creates a hybrid of traditional Arab music and contemporary deliveries. A composer and master of Arab percussion instruments, Karim expands the beat with electronica, melody, speech and dance aesthetics. He has recorded under the name Turbo Tabla and Sharq Ensemble. In 2020 he gave a TEDx Talk on how music is used for both diplomacy & disruption. Currently in Chicago, he is a teaching artist, helping to create visibility for Arab culture, and advocate for his people through music and dance.
