Nektarios Galanis (born 24 October 1975 in Chalkida, Greece) is a Greek composer, arranger, multi-instrumentalist and performer of mainly instrumental world music with focus on the Mediterranean area. His ability to play different string instruments like greek bouzouki, violin, oud, guitar, tzouras ecc and several traditional percussions like darabukka and frame drum, enables him to create his personalized sounds. Having lived in Greece, Sicily (Italy), Germany and Switzerland, his compositions have many european traditional influences, although they mainly express sounds and rhythms from Greece, Middle East, Sicily and Spain. In 1998, he entered the world music group “Nakaira”. With his experience, he managed to give a characteristic and recognizable identity to the sounds and melodies of this band, which mostly referred to the countries of the Mediterranean area. He supervised the arrangement and produced 3 of the groups albums. Since then he has partecipated in several concerts and festivals in Italy and around the world (Portugal, Spain, France, Germany, Austria, Denmark, Hungary, UK, Latvia, Tunis, Yemen, Capo Verde ecc). Other important band projects were “Tripous”, “Mediorkestra” and “Drosostalides”. In his musical career, he has also composed soundtracks for several documentaries and television. In addition, he has participated in other artists albums as composer and/or musician (Saro Tribastone, Eva Kanelli, Theodoris Kazakos ecc).
