Biography

The young Swiss baritone Äneas Humm completed his singing studies at the renowned Juilliard School in New York in 2019. After being an ensemble member at the Nationaltheater Weimar and the Badische Staatstheater Karlsruhe, Äneas will be part of the ensemble of the Theater St. Gallen in Switzerland from the 2022/23 season. He is always a welcome guest with renowned European orchestras, including the Bremen Philharmonic, the Musikkollegium Winterthur, the German Chamber Philharmonic, Nederlands Noordorkest and the German State Philharmonic Rhineland- Palatinate. As a sought-after interpreter of songs, he is currently enjoying particularly great success. This year, he was nominated for his achievements in three categories for the “Opus Klassik” and was awarded the “Deutschlandfunk sponsorship award”. His CD „Embrace“ was voted CD of the year by the Bavarian Radio and nominated by the list of German record critics. Since May 2018, Äneas Humm has been giving regular recitals with the world-renowned songwriter Hartmut Hoell. Further close collaboration developed over the years with Babette Hierholzer, Judit Polgar and Renate Rohlfing. Äneas is regularly booked by international festivals for recitals and thus made his debut at the Enescu Festival in Bucharest in 2021 and at the Beethoven Haus Bonn in2022. He often appears at the Musikfest Bremen and sang at Carnegie Hall / Weill Recital Hall and at Alice Tully Hall in New York while he was still a student.
