Biography

Xen Retro, was born in Jamaica and raised in the Cayman Islands for the major part of his life. Rap is the key genre in Retro's sound and he has a passion for that older Boom-Bap style of Hip-Hop/Rap therefore this has heavy influence on his sound. He's molded this love for boom-bap by incorporating that sound-style with a modern-day twist. Retro loves to experiment with the sound of his voice which is apparent on majority of his music. This vocal modulation stems from his pillars of inspiration and motivation from what he considers the forefathers of Rap being "Kendrick Lamar", "J. Cole", "Kanye" and "Nas". Retro says they've all layered the template for him to walk on his own path. His most recent project is "Westbrook", whereby Retro compares his aggressive vocal delivery to the monstrous ball play of Oklahoma City's Point Guard "Russel Westbrook". More music by Retro is on the way as he's been working closely with Haven Records (co-founded by himself) on releasing more singles as 2019 progresses.
