With an early start in music, Somawine Precious Uche, born in Delta, Nigeria, was singing hymns with a stunning mastery before he even learned to talk. Rooted in music and the choir, the 20-year-old 'SOUNDBENDER' moved to the cultural melting-pot that is the city of Lagos with his mother at the age of 3, shaping him into a fusion of rich musical and artistic influences. Wielding a unique vocal ability, he creates captivating rhythms and melodies from thin air, painting the most vivid scenery with his lyrics and drawing from a vast array of influences — majorly classic Afrobeats (2Baba, Asa, the Mo' Hits Crew), and the alternative HipHop/R&B movements of the 90s and 2010s. After founding The Grove, a creative collective during his short stint at the University of Benin, Somawine officially started recording music in 2022, leading to the effusive local acclaim of his debut single, 'Suddenly' in 2023.
