Paul Hankinson is an Australian pianist, composer, arranger and songwriter based in Berlin. His solo piano album “Echoes of a Winter Journey” was released on Traumton Records in December, 2017. Described as being filled with “thoughtful, meditative melodies for dreamers and all those who value the silence between the notes” (Concerto Magazine, Austria), the CD was the 2018 Bestseller on the Dussmann Customer Charts in Berlin. His follow-up album “Dear Emily” was released on November 29, 2019. Inspired by the American poet Emily Dickinson and her piano, the album explores the music hidden in the silence between her words, informed by letters and stories about the piano in her home, what was played upon it, and what was hidden inside it. Paul aspires to make music which can be of use in people’s lives, providing a moment of peace or empathy, of beauty, melancholy or joy, a moment of humanity, of connection. On the wall above his desk is a sign which reads “Who is it for?”
