Biography

Frenchie is a London-based French-English singer-songwriter, known for her soulful, nuanced songwriting and captivating vocal delivery. Formerly performing under the name The Naked Eye and as a member of the female artist collective Her Songs, Frenchie blends poetic intimacy with raw and honest storytelling. Frenchie’s debut single under her new name, 'Can I Lean On You?' produced by acclaimed jazz guitarist Femi Temowo, is a stunning exploration of personal authenticity and vulnerability. The track features an array of talented collaborators, including backing vocals from Hohnen Ford and Frida Touray, keys from Luke Smith, drums by Ayo Salawu, and a string quartet by Celestial Strings—creating an irresistible soundscape of jazzy guitar motifs, delicate strings, and groove-filled percussion. Supported by outlets like COLORS, CLASH Magazine, Mahogany, BBC 6 Music, and Jazz FM, Frenchie continues to gain recognition for her work. Frenchie is now adding the finishing touches to her debut album, set for release in 2025. With roots in Grasse, in the South of France, Frenchie’s music reflects her wide-ranging influences, from contemporary artists like Cleo Sol, Lauryn Hill, Corinne Bailey Rae, and Lianne La Havas to classic songwriters such as Joni Mitchell, Minnie Riperton, Carole King, and Stevie Wonder. Her sound is a lush blend of R&B, soul, jazz, and pop.
