Phresh Clique is the result of the serendipitous meeting of two like minded creative spirits; Khuselisa and Zimkitha also known as Kush and Zee. Growing up in the streets of Gugulethu, they were exposed to the local street style and culture. They started out making music in isiXhosa combining vernac street slang with English to produce a sound which they labelled as Kwai-Hop inspired by iSpaza also known as iRingas. The Duo started exploring more and more with Kwaito, an iconic and exclusively South African originated sound as we know it, and have currently developed it into a global sound which they now describe as Kwai-Groove. As pioneers of this sound, they are influenced by the late great Brenda Fassie & Lebo Mathosa well as music by Boom Shaka, Trompies and TKZEE to name a few. Phresh Clique is destined to inspire and empower the African youth to realise the power of their heritage. As South African global citizens that thrive in telling township lifestyle stories, they are featured in Beyoncés Making The Gift documentary and are definitely set to leave a mark in the African music industry.
