Biography

By his own admission, JRLDM’s music is experimental, teetering between R&B and hip-hop. Raised from various musical influences across multiple genres, the Filipino artist excels at impactful old-fashioned songcraft and tacit sonic exploration. His chilly voice, paired with minimal, droning instrumentals creates an atmosphere that envelops you into a constantly growing space of his own design; sometimes suffocating, sometimes energetic, and always passionate—caught between the catchy trappings of trap and the lingering emotional depth of R&B, JRLDM crafts melodies out of both genres, avoiding being put in a box. Yet at his music’s core is an understanding of human emotion that dwells deep in our collective psyches. His songwriting speaks volumes on his careful articulation to say precisely what we feel, under a dreamy haze. The stage name JRLDM, a stylized iteration of “Jerald-Damn”, was created from a desire to have listeners say “Damn!” whenever his music is heard. Since embarking on his musical career, he has earned more than 2 million streams as an independent artist, beginning with his breakout 2019 single “Patiwakal”, followed by “PARASITIKO”, his 2021 collaboration with Lexus. Since then, JRLDM has continued to grow his career further under a record deal and management contract with Music Colony Records and Warner Music Philippines.
