An American comedian, singer, and satirist, Randy Rainbow rose to prominence in the early 2010s with his musical parodies and sharp-witted and politically savvy videos that spoof interviews with famous figures. His viral videos found mainstream success both during and after the 2016 presidential campaign and in 2019, The Randy Rainbow Show earned an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Short Form Variety Series. He released his debut studio LP, A Little Brains, A Little Talent, in 2021. Rainbow spent his formative years in Long Island, New York and Plantation, Florida. He moved to New York City in his early twenties to pursue a career in theater and began blogging and creating comedic videos. The Randy Rainbow Bloggity BLAHg-BLAHg, originally intended to chronicle Rainbow's daily life in N.Y.C., started to gain traction in 2010 when he posted a video titled Randy Rainbow Is Dating Mel Gibson, one of several filmed skits that saw Rainbow turning celebrity audio clips into fake phone calls. The video went viral and a flood of new content followed, with clever parodies of musical numbers and Rainbow staging fake phone calls with everyone from Dr. Laura to Kanye West. His focus became more political in 2016, with the election of Donald Trump providing a seemingly endless bounty of comedic grist, which Rainbow would mill into satirical interviews and musical numbers that skewered both the election process and the president himself; his musical tribute to the first presidential debate garnered over 20 million views in just two days.
