Having ghostwritten for some of the hottest Hip Hop & R&B artist, he is no stranger to the industry. Born in New Orleans, Louisiana as Renard Johnson, Lok was exposed to music by his parents; his father Bernard “Bunchy” Johnson, legendary jazz percussionist, and his mother, a blues singer named Veda Love. During his teen years he was taught several instruments including: trumpet, French horn, and piano. Lok began sharing his music production with major label artists Master P, Silk The Shocker, Mia X, Fiend & Big Ed turning out gold and platinum records. Working closely with production team Beats by the Pound, Lok wrote choruses for the label and orchestrated vocal arrangements for their R&B acts as well. In early 2000’s Lok started spreading his wings and traveled to Baltimore to write and produce with Jay Electronica, then to Atlanta where he worked with Evander Holyfield’s Real Deal Entertainment recording artist G Dinero, Warrick Dunn’s Big Ticket Entertainment, Grand Hustle’s recording artist Rashad Morgan (Arista Records), and Alpha Mega (Capital Records). While making a name for himself at Grand Hustle, Lok was featured on rap legend MJG’s album. On Lok Akim’s debut single “I Rise” Lok exudes confidence and extraordinary talent having written, recorded, produced, and performed the song. He soon after followed with “Champion” also written, recorded, performed, and produced by Lok.
