Texas based outsider and experimental artist Robotany is the multi instrumentalist, composer and painter (Stephen Smith), whose work as the laboratory overseer half of the psychedelic folk duo Felius, and whose longtime contributions to the progressive rock collective del-Rey have shored up a messy catalogue of diy-anti-rock and lofi pop-in-opposition that continues to challenge conventions from its dark corner of southern American history. For over two decades, the varied studies in landscape and form, rhythm, color and expression that dominate Robotany's work have manifested a growing patchwork of image and sound that offers a unique take on the rio/art rock tradition.
