Biography

Gastón Reggio is an Uruguayan musician, educator, and composer with a diverse musical background, who has studied with renowned drummers Osvaldo Fattoruso and Daniel “Pipi” Piazzolla among many others in Uruguay and Argentina. In 2012, he expanded his musical horizons by moving to Brazil, where he earned a degree in Brazilian Music and Jazz from the Conservatory of Tatuí in São Paulo. After six enriching years in Brazil, Gastón returned to Uruguay. In 2019, he embarked on a new chapter by relocating to the United States, initially residing in Michigan before finding his permanent home in the Raleigh-Durham area in 2021. Since then, he has actively contributed to the local music scene, collaborating with groups like Também, Caique Vidal & Batuque, Joe Troop Whirlwind, and The Rebecca Kleinmann Quintet. With over fifteen years of experience as a music educator, Gastón has led workshops on Uruguayan and Brazilian rhythms. His extensive performance repertoire includes appearances at numerous festivals, theaters, universities, and venues across Uruguay, Brazil, and the United States. He has also contributed to more than twenty albums, leaving a significant mark on each project. In addition to his collaborations, Gastón has released two albums of original compositions: Do Interiô in 2019 and Michigan in 2024.
