Biography

In 2015, Jonny Lutz picked up his first studio in Miami and moved to Nashville to begin a career as a musician and studio owner. By 2017, his hopes were dashed as he encountered the exact financial hard-ship often associated with the musicians lifestyle. Returning to Florida, Lutz opened his (at that point) 3rd studio out of a garage. He then began to record under the persona Solomon Ives, but found the rules he had set for himself to define that project to be limiting; insufficient context to fulfill a near-limitless musical imagination. This pushed him to find a new outlet; one where he could indulge his every impulse, regardless of congruency or logic, trusting in a creative finger-print bold enough to be the tie between all of the individual releases. DNA in place of genre. While beginning with a potential Solomon Ives instrumental that didn't adhere to the Ives rules, Lutz was at a crossroads. Change the rules for Solomon Ives, or throw the song away? But wait, perhaps there is a third option. Doubling down on the "Inessential" aspect, Jonny decided to released the song unfinished, which then opened the door to released more "unfinished"music that hadn't ever found a home, ranging all the way back to songs and instrumentals that were written and recorded in Miami (pre 2015). Marked by odd time-signatures and a wide range of tones (while still within the realm of "rock" sonic vocabulary), The Inessential Jonny Lutz values exploration above all else.
