The sound of Art Pleasley is one with echoes of New Orleans, Berlin, Minneapolis, Melbourne, Nashville and beyond but is uniquely endemic to the Northern Rivers of NSW. Funk from a first-gen emo kid growing up in headphones and reading liner notes who morphed into a multi-intrumental producer, singer/songwriter and kaleidoscopic stage performer. 
 Glittered up queer gospel preacher wailing and pounding keyboards/percussion one night, wise cracking Tim Minchin-ite at the piano the next, freeform Jeff Buckley at Sin-é type guitar set the afternoon after that in a cafe somewhere. And with an epic, curated vinyl collection, may the good lord help you if he’s got a DJ set booked near you too. 
 After spending each day of 2020 sharing fragmented loop videos to his instagram, Art Pleasley digitally collaborated with some of Australia’s finest producers, vocalists and instrumentalists throughout quarantine and beyond. June 2021 sees him drop his first completely solo, independent physical release - the double-A side 7” single “HurtPeople/ChangeMyWay” - this underground DIY artist’s artist is a true anomaly of the funkiest kind. 
 Having clocked well over a decade of traversing the byways of the music industry in as an artist, studio hand, educator, community radio host, composer and more, Art Pleasley’s dedication to music is contagious across any of his incarnations with both his work and energy celebrated by artists and fans alike.
