Matthew Shay, under the artist name lolitsmatt, is an independent artist & producer located in the Los Angeles/Orange County area. Coming from a musical family, Matt was enrolled in various musical programs including piano & violin. However, he never fully recognized the potential he had in music & rashly made the decision to quit his classical training. The moderate musical knowledge would prove to be beneficial as Matthew began studying Jazz through tap dancing and rap through hip-hop. Because of his familiarity with music, Matthew was quick to unpack complex rhythms & melodies in class intuitively. He began to reapply the sounds from class to hip-hop instrumentals which he released under the YouTube page "Matter Beats." Inspired by other YouTube producers such as Aries & Gami, Matthew began writing and recording his own lyrics to his instrumentals. In 2020, lolitsmatt released his debut single Hello Kitty Sticker to test the waters as a full artist. After the song's release, Matt's musical potential grew exponentially as he reconnected Noah Mathews. As childhood school friends, Noah Mathews & lolitsmatt were often found scribbling freestyles & remixes for fun. However, their combined passion & dedication for music eventually blossomed into the forming of their band Summer's Over. Working both independently & alongside Summer's Over & No Juice Records, lolitsmatt invites listeners on a journey through the highs & lows of life told through each carefully crafted track.
