French Hip-hop crew from Paris, formed in 2006. Kalhex consists of Le Makizar (MC/producer), Lex (de Kalhex) (MC/producer) and Parental (DJ/producer). With only one album as a group (2009) and a smashing EP featuring Pete Rock's InI crew (2012), Kalhex gained a solid reputation in the Beats scene with several critically acclaimed solo projects over the past decade. Parental produced nearly 10 albums in the last 5 years, by resurecting some of the 90's underground finest MC's like Godfather Don, Horror City, or Carta' P. (Adagio!). Since 2011, Lex developed his instrumental career with 7 albums and many tours in Japan where he got close to Nujabes entourage and his music released by Hydeout-Productions’ex-manager Takumi Koizumi. A solo rap album by Le Makizar, produced by the crew in 2016, kept the trio working on group efforts as well as their respective releases with worldwide artists such as Illa J, Mathematik (Down ta Erf), Awon, Substantial or Uyama Hiroto. Not only producers on the mic, Lex & Le Makizar's poetic and multi-layered lyrics are the vocal echos to Parental's dreamy powerful beats. This year, after more than a decade, Kalhex is finally back as a whole with a completely new LP. "Résonance" features long-time collaborators Mc Grey & Alcynoos as well as legendary MC Shing02 renown for his contribution to Samurai Champloo OST & his work with Japan’s legend Nujabes.
