Biography

In many ways, Manny encapsulates the Western Sydney experience: The Egyptian/Sudanese artist immigrated to the area at age six, introduced to hip-hop via Tupac's 'Toss It Up' and later watching him perform live on RAGE as a wide-eyed child. From there, Manny was inspired to delve into rap and hasn't looked back since, creating music that spans from hip-swinging Afro-inspired tunes ('Dancing') to nocturnal club bops ('Why' ft. Pleasure P') and everything in between. Blending rap, R&B and his Arab/North African heritage. His diverse portfolio has led to support slots for international heavyweights like Tyga, Fabolous, Akon and 112.
Speaking on his music, Manny says that his motto is "to make music that I would want my future kids to listen to, and to empower people. I just want to make people happy and just feel something." It's an ethos that has stretched to his work behind the scenes, too: Manny along side Business partner ‘Zig’ own and operate a Label called db.music where Manny helps create and release music for some of Australia’s heavy hitters including Hooligan Hefs, Day1, Mason Dane, Blueboy, Baby prince, Kedus, Creed The Kid and many more up and coming artists. In 2016, his work as a cultural activator led to his crowning as the most influential African-Australian by Prime Minister Kevin Rudd, and on the same night, he became the first Australian rapper to perform at the iconic Sydney Opera House.
