Anna-Lena Laurin is a Swedish Composer. She has had commissions from orchestras/ soloists/conductors such as Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra, Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra, Malmö Opera Orchestra, Camerata Nordica where she held the position as Composer in residence 2014-2016, Norrlandsoperan, Orquesta Sinfónica Municipal de Mar del Plata, Argentina, Swedish Radio, Christian Lindberg, Nisse Landgren, Norrbotten BB, Swedish CO, Malmö SO, Göran Söllscher, Aleksander Nohr (NO), Piia Komsi (FI), Haga Duo, David Härenstam, Mats Jansson, Olle Persson, Irina Emeliantseva (RU), Victor Lewis (USA), Andrew Manze (GB), Anders Bergcrantz, Thomas Søndergaard (DK), Anna-Maria Helsing (FI) among others and her music is performed around the world. With her orchestral work/CD "Anders Bergcrantz Plays The Painter by Anna-Lena Laurin", she was awarded Composer of the Year #2 at The 37th Annual Jazz Station Awards/The Best Jazz of 2015 in Los Angeles. The same site also appointed her DVD Iphigenia, DVD of the year 2016 #2 . As Camerata Nordica's Composer in residence Laurin composed 4 concertos whereof Concerto for flute strings and harp and Concerto for Guitar was both nominated by SMFF as one of the most important works in Sweden 2011/2016. Swedish Radio appointed Laurin Composer of the Year 2013/Jazz cat. She started her professional career as a jazz pianist and vocalist. Nowadays she still performs as a jazz pianist in her daugther´s critically acclaimed Iris Bergcrantz Quintet.
