Biography

Doe Paoro is a singer, songwriter and sound healer. She wrote her first record after a year of study and meditation in the Himalayas, where she also trained in Tibetan opera singing. She sees music as a powerful tool for healing and raising consciousness. After earning critical accolades with her self-released first album, Slow to Love, she signed to Anti-, working with members of Bon Iver and making her label debut with 2015's After. For her third album, 2018's retro-leaning Soft Power, Paoro worked with producer Jimmy Hogarth (Amy Winehouse, Sia) in London, recording the songs live to tape. Her music has been featured in film, television and radio and she has toured with artists like The Gipsy Kings and Of Monsters and Men. Following the release of Soft Power, Paoro was experiencing burnout, and decided to focus exclusively on performing music in healing spaces, facilitating large-scale sound baths and meditation events. In 2021, she self-released a record of mantras called 432Hz Chakra Suite, Vol 1 with collaborator Float Waves, which she recorded remotely while in lockdown. Paoro now lives between Costa Rica and Los Angeles, where she has continued the integration of her music with her spiritual practices. Her latest EP, Divine Surrendering, is the culmination of this union. “The pandemic felt like a collective spiritual and existential initiation in many ways,” she says. “What felt inspiring to me was to make songs that held space for that.”
