Jessie Jones

Biography

A vocalist and songwriter who rose from the West Coast garage punk scene, Jessie Jones has gone on to an ambitious and eclectic career. Jones first made a name for herself as a member of Feeding People, an Orange County band whose music fused contemporary garage rock with the darker side of vintage psychedelia. Feeding People earned considerable acclaim on the California garage punk scene, and Jones made a memorable guest appearance on Free the Robots' album The Balance, but in 2013 Feeding People broke up, and Jones briefly turned away from her musical career as she reconsidered her life in rural California. After crossing paths with new friends who reintroduced her to the pleasures of making music, Jones made a new home in Laurel Canyon, and in 2014 she returned to rock & roll, working with the punk-leaning pop combo the Death Valley Girls, cutting a pair of singles in 2014 and 2015 and setting out on tour with the group. And in 2015 Jessie Jones released her self-titled debut album, a polished but heartfelt set of tunes that found her pondering her spiritual and secular sides while embracing a number of musical frameworks. ~ Mark Deming, Rovi
