Biography

Antonio Raia is an italian composer, improviser and saxophonist born in Naples on March 22, 1988. He loves the relationships between music and other arts and does not like to be labeled in a specific genre. Since 2013 he has been involved in free-form activities, concerts and artistic performances in music festivals, contemporary art museums and clubs. In the electro-acoustic orchestra he was directed by: Alvin Curran, Adam Rudolph, Mike Cooper, Lisa Mezzacappa, Carl Hubsh and Elio Martusciello. He has collaborated with Sara D’Uva, cyop&kaf, Martin Errichiello, Luisa Terminiello, Kanaka Project and Teknari for their videos or working with visual art. "Asylum" is his first album (Clean Feed Records, 2018) following the previous ep "Stories of a vain diary", published in collaboration with manyfeunder\homemadelabel. In 2021 he released the album Thin Reactions in duo with the electronic composer Renato Fiorito and in 2023 he published the book "La memoria bucata" dedicated to the artist and theater author Antonio Neiwiller. Since 2020 he has been working as a composer for cinema soundtracks. Among the various interviews and articles about him: On the music magazine The Wire the critic Phil Freeman in the April 2019 defines Raia "wind trough metal". Antonio Briozzo on Rumore Mag.
