Biography

JAZZKANTINE “Es ist Jazz - It's jazz” - and has been for over 25 years. The Jazzkantine is now a German music dinosaur. A little wrinkled, but still nimble, flexible and versatile. And alive. Steeled by countless gigs in small, dingy clubs, but also in posh theaters and huge arenas. The Jazzkantine has played around 1,500 concerts to date, experienced the most beautiful and the worst, the most exciting and the most extraordinary from all musical worlds. Jazz meets rap made in Germany Once inspired by Quincy Jones' legendary "Back on the Block" album, which brought together and merged a large number of prominent musicians from Jazz, Soul and HipHop, the Jazzkantine found its very own musical path and created an original sound on twelve albums. The ten musicians have always felt the desire to creatively transcend boundaries and constant reinvention. Various cooks prepare soul-food with new, delicious ingredients. Whether in theatre and dance productions or in the appropriation and implementation of other musical genres - the menus always tasted surprisingly different. Music that everyone understands, that goes straight to the stomach. Top-class guest musicians - rappers like Ol Dirty Bastard from the Wu-Tang Clan and Smudo from the Fantastischen Vier or jazz musicians like Till Brönner, Pee Wee Ellis, Nils Landgren, Gunter Hampel and Bill Evans - also repeatedly spiced up the albums or concerts.
