LDorado Jonez is back with his new EP, Koreatown Hostel. The project draws listeners in with its blends of mellow grooves and hypnotic rhythms. Lyrically, the EP follows LDorado’s journey cross country as he relocates from Chicago to Los Angeles. On the song Free Fall, he addresses his feelings of self-doubt, “…always on my grind/ I ain’t got no occupation/ am I lying to myself when I tell myself be patient [with this Free Fall]. He swiftly bounces back with a boastful claim on 24/8 “…play the game at a high level/ no competition on my level/ gotta be better than my predecessors/ if you the goat then we eye level…” The project comes to a thunderous climax on the super anthem, Gorilla. Its irresistible bounce sounds like the Staple Center crammed inside of an LA after-hour kickback. Koreatown Hostel isn’t a departure from LDorado’s earlier works, but instead an evolution of his sound and increased willingness to allow outsiders into his world. With Koreatown Hostel, LDorado Jonez takes the listener on an incredibly vivid ride fueled by uncertainty, ambition, and adrenaline.
