Biography

Starting out as games musician in 1987 for the popular Commodore 64 and also later the NES, Matt Gray was responsible for popular soundtracks for Driller and in 1988 the smash hit multi million selling C64 game The Last Ninja 2 released by System 3. Often cited as one of the best game soundtracks of the era, it was followed by further soundtracks for System 3 including Tusker, Vendetta and Dominator.
Following a brief stint as a NES musician for game powerhouse Codemasters 1989/90, where Matt produced the music for Treasure Island Dizzy & Micro Machines, Matt decided to concentrate on producing dance music which was breaking into the mainstream consciousness. Popular releases under pseudonyms Westworld, Nitrous & Industrial followed including underground dance hits The Slam, Fantasise, Dreamworld as Westworld, Moonwalk, Rok Skool as Nitrous and Tribal Trance as Industrial.
Around 1992 Matt teamed up with Steve Rodway to form dance act Motiv8. After the success of their dance hit Rockin’ For Myself, Motiv8 became much in demand as remixers. Producer Brian Higgins joined Motiv8 in 1995 and in early 1996 Matt joined Higgins to form Xenomania who followed 1997 Top 5 hit All I Wanna Do for Dannii Minogue with huge international hit Believe by Cher in 1998.
After 18 years of success with Xenomania, Matt returned to game soundtracks and principally his Reformation series of albums, remaking classic game soundtracks including The Last Ninja 2 and other popular C64 composers works.
