Biography

Multiple cultural references characterize jazz pianist and composer Antonio Flinta’s artistic output, exploring melodies, moods, colors, textures and space, and delivering a music of insightful improvisations and of intense emotional strength. With his trio and quartet, Flinta has toured extensively, performing at jazz festivals, theaters and clubs on four continents. Pianist, composer and educator born in Chile, studied in Madrid at the Taller de Musicos and at the Berklee College of Music in Boston. Settling in Rome in 1990, Flinta freelanced for a time and then in 1993 formed a trio that lasts until today and recorded four CDs: The Meeting, Tree And Figure, La Edad De La Ira, and Portraits And Songs. In 2008 the group became a quartet recording Tamed, Art Is An Insurgent Poem, La Noche Arrolladora, and Cycles And Rhymes. In October 2021, Antonio Flinta has released Secrets Of A Kiri Tree, his first solo piano album.
